Additional information

Jaora's copper coinage from the 1890s was issued under Muhammad Ismail Khan, who ruled this small Malwa state as a nawab under British paramountcy. The state retained the right to strike token copper for local circulation — a privilege the British tolerated in many Rajputana and Central India Agency states provided the issues didn't threaten Imperial monetary order. Jaora's coinage never circulated far beyond its own bazaars.
