| Obverse description | Irregular hammered copper flan bearing the Arabic-script name of Nawab Muhammad Ali Khan Wallajah arranged in two or three lines across the field, reading محمد / علي / شاه. A horizontal raised line bisects the coin, dividing the legend into upper and lower registers. The lower register features scattered pellet ornaments flanking the lettering, a typical decorative convention of Arcot mint copper coinage. The surfaces are characteristically rough, consistent with hand-struck production at the Arcot mint during the late eighteenth century. |
