| Reverse description | The reverse displays a field covered with cursive Arabic script arranged in multiple lines, with the legends referring to the ruler and state of Cambay. The lettering is crudely but boldly rendered in the hammered tradition, with individual characters exhibiting considerable variation due to hand production. The flan shows the characteristic irregular, multi-sided outline common to this series, and the surface retains traces of its original copper patina. Varieties of countermarks are known to exist within this type. |
