Reverse description Reverse displays a Persian inscription in Naskh script arranged in two horizontal lines across the heavily worn field, reading 'Shah Alam', a reference to the Mughal emperor Shah Alam II (r. 1759–1806) in whose name the coin was nominally struck. A horizontal dividing line separates the two registers of text. The legends are crudely executed and somewhat compressed, reflecting the rudimentary engraving standards of this provincial hammered issue.
Reverse script Persian
Reverse lettering شاه عالم
