Obverse description A schematic, crudely rendered depiction of the Shrine of Hazrat Ali (Mazar-e Sharif), commonly known as the Blue Mosque, occupies the central field. The sanctuary is represented in a highly stylized manner characteristic of hammered Afghan copper coinage of the period, showing the arched facade and minarets of the shrine in low relief. Decorative pellets appear in the upper right field, likely representing ornamental elements of the architectural composition. The flan is irregular and the strike uneven, typical of hand-struck issues from the Qandahar mint during the reign of Amir Habibullah Khan.

Reverse description The reverse bears a two-line Persian inscription in Arabic script reading 'Zarb Qandahar' (Struck at Qandahar), with the AH date divided below the mint name. The legend is contained within the field without a formal border, rendered in a bold but roughly executed hand consistent with hammered provincial coinage. The layout and lettering style are characteristic of the Qandahar mint under Amir Habibullah Khan's reign.
