| Obverse description | Crude hammered copper flan with an irregular outline, bearing a two-line Devanagari legend arranged within a divided rectangular frame. The upper field carries the syllable 'शिव' (Shiva) and the lower field 'राजा' (Raja), together reading 'Shivaja' — a vernacular rendering of the royal name Shivaji. The incuse linear border separating the two registers is characteristic of early Maratha coinage struck at Raigad. The overall fabric is rough, with an uneven surface showing natural flan cracks and patches of green cuprite patina consistent with prolonged burial. |

| Reverse description | Reverse of this hammered copper paisa displays a bold two-line Devanagari legend reading 'छत्र' (Chhattra) in the upper register and 'पति' (Pati) in the lower, together forming the royal title 'Chhatrapati' — Lord of the Umbrella — the sovereign epithet of Shivaji Maharaj. The characters are deeply struck in high relief against a granular, uneven field typical of hand-struck Maratha issues. The flan edges are irregular and clipped, and patches of malachite-green oxidation are visible in the field, attesting to the coin's considerable age and copper alloy composition. |
