| Reverse description | Hammered copper reverse bearing a multi-part Arabic legend distributed across the field, reading 'Abu al-Muzaffar Tughluq Shah al-Sultan' (Father of the Victorious, Tughluq Shah, the Sultan), the full regal titulature of Ghiyath al-Din Tughluq, founder of the Tughluqid dynasty of the Delhi Sultanate. The script is characteristic of the abbreviated, informally struck legends found on small-denomination copper paikas of this period. The flan presents an irregular, lobulated edge typical of hand-struck issues, with a dark brown and green patinated surface. |
