Mohammad Reza Shah's accession in September 1941 came not through natural succession but through an Allied-forced abdication — British and Soviet forces had occupied Iran that same month, compelling Reza Shah to step down over fears of his pro-German sympathies. This coin type was struck under the new shah almost immediately, with the legend change marking the political rupture cleanly. The Allied occupation remained in force until 1946, meaning every piece from this date range was produced under a government operating with severely constrained sovereignty over its own territory.
