Obverse description Struck in proof-like finish, the obverse presents a detailed bust of Yuan Shih-kai facing slightly left, depicted in full military uniform with epaulettes, a star medallion on the chest, and his characteristic tall ribbed ceremonial hat. The engraver's signature 'L. Giorgi' appears in the right field, referencing the original die engraver of the 1916 Hongxian coinage.
