Reverse description The reverse presents a depiction of the Freedom Monument of Riga, the iconic female allegorical figure Milda standing atop a tall column and raising three stars aloft with both arms, set to the right of the field against radiating sunbeams that fan outward across the mirror-polished background. The commemorative dates 1918 and 1988 are inscribed in the lower left field, marking the 70th anniversary of Latvian independence. The patriotic motto TĒVZEMEI UN BRĪVĪBAI curves along the upper periphery. The entire design is enclosed by a dentilated border consistent with the obverse.
