The central design is a detailed shield with eagle wings behind a shield that bears three five-pointed stars. United States flag bearing twelve five-pointed stars is located above and behind the shield and wings. A banner below the shield states the year. A circle of rope separates most of this central design from the lettering that describes the copper purity and weight. There are six five-pointed stars are in this outer ring.
