| Obverse description | The obverse depicts Saint Mark enthroned at left, robed and nimbed, holding the Gospel in his left hand, facing the kneeling figure of Doge Alvise Mocenigo III at right, who presents himself in ducal robes with hands clasped in veneration. Between the two figures stands a staff or standard. The surrounding legend reads ·S·M·V·ALOYSIVS·MOCENICO·D· in Latin, with the regnal year notation ·AN·IV· and ·P·A·T· inscribed in the lower field, indicating the fourth year of his dogeship. The composition follows the traditional Venetian osella format, rendered in fine milled relief. |
