Obverse description At centre, the Vasa sheaf (wheat sheaf dynastic symbol) divides the royal cypher 'C' and 'R' (Carolus Rex), all within a beaded inner circle. A Latin legend surrounds the central design outside the beaded circle, incorporating the date. The 1609 issue bears the legend MONETA PRIMA, while the 1610 issue substitutes MONETA NOVA, distinguishing the two emission years of this type.
