Obverse description Central crowned quartered shield bearing the Greater Arms of Sweden: the first and fourth quarters display three crowns (the ancient arms of Sweden), the second and third quarters bear the Folkung Lion passant, and an inescutcheon at centre carries the Vasa sheaf. The shield is partially enclosed within a beaded or plain inner circle, with the royal legend disposed in the outer field. The composition reflects the formal heraldic style typical of early seventeenth-century Swedish copper coinage.
