| Reverse description | Quartered coat of arms of Anjou-Flanders displayed on a heraldic shield surmounted by an ornate crown, occupying the central field of the reverse. The upper quarters bear the fleurs-de-lis of France-Anjou, while the lower quarters display the lion of Flanders. The shield is rendered with bold, deeply struck lines characteristic of hammered copper coinage of this period. A circular Latin motto legend surrounds the arms reading AETERNUM. MEDITANS. DECUS, meaning 'Aspiring to eternal glory.' The coin exhibits natural copper patination with areas of surface porosity consistent with its age and production method. |
