| Obverse description | The obverse features the Mexican national arms at center: an eagle displayed in left profile, perched upon a cactus rising from a rocky island surrounded by water, grasping a serpent in its beak and talons, with wings spread. A wreath of oak and laurel branches frames the base of the device. The legend REPUBLICA MEXICANA arcs along the upper periphery in raised Latin lettering. The entire design is enclosed within a toothed or dentilated border running around the full circumference of the coin. |
