Reverse description A phoenix rising from the flames, wings outstretched, facing left, with a radiant sun emitting long rays depicted above the bird against the upper field. The phoenix, a classical symbol of resurrection and renewal, is rendered in bold relief against a flat field. The mint mark S·M· (Santa Maria, Palermo) appears in the lower field flanking the date 1733 along the bottom. The circular Latin legend ET AVRO ARGENTEA RESVRGIT alludes to the coin's resurrection in gold and silver. The design is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, with an ornamented outer border.
