Obverse description The national coat of arms of Peru occupies the central field, depicting a shield divided into three sections bearing a vicuña, a cinchona tree, and a cornucopia overflowing with gold coins, representing the animal, vegetable, and mineral wealth of the nation. The arms are encircled by the legend BANCO CENTRAL DE RESERVA DEL PERÚ along the upper periphery. Below the shield, in the exergue, appear the denomination UN NUEVO SOL, the fineness and weight designation PLATA 0.925 / 33.625 g, and the date 1999. The Lima Mint mark (LM) is also present.
