Reverse description An ornate cross with fleur-de-lis terminals occupies the full field, with a crowned lion passant guardant in each of the four angles formed by the cross. At the centre of the cross is the letter R, serving as an initial mark for the reign of Richard II. The entire design is enclosed within a tressure of eight arcs, with fleurs-de-lis adorning the spandrels between the arcs and the outer border. An initial mark of a cross pattée appears at the commencement of the peripheral legend, which is enclosed between inner and outer beaded borders.
