Part of Israel's long-running Wildlife series, this issue depicts the roe deer (*Capreolus capreolus*), a species whose presence in the Levant had declined sharply through the twentieth century due to hunting and habitat loss. By the 1990s it had effectively disappeared from Israel's wild, making the choice pointed — the series doubled as a quiet record of the country's vanishing fauna.
