Additional information

Tel Hazor, a Bronze Age Canaanite city-state in the upper Galilee, was among the largest urban centers in the ancient Levant — its lower city alone covered roughly 700 acres at its peak. Joshua 11 names it the head of all those kingdoms before its destruction, and Solomonic-era rebuilding layers have been confirmed through excavation. The Israel Exploration Society has been digging there in phases since the 1950s, most recently under Amnon Ben-Tor, whose teams uncovered a Late Bronze Age palace archive hinting at a cuneiform tablet collection that may yet be found intact.
