| Obverse description | The obverse bears the State of Israel's menorah emblem (State Seal) in the upper left field, accompanied by the large numeral '1' to its right. Below, the denomination is inscribed in three scripts: 'שקל חדש' in Hebrew, 'NEW SHEQEL' in Latin, and 'إسرائيل' in Arabic, followed by 'ISRAEL' and 'ישראל'. The mint mark 'מ' appears at the bottom center. The circular legend around the periphery reads 'יעקב ורחל בראשית כט' in Hebrew and 'JACOB AND RACHEL GEN.29' in Latin, with the dual date '5764 2004' incorporated into the border inscription. |

| Reverse description | The reverse depicts a stylized low-relief scene illustrating the biblical meeting of Jacob and Rachel at the well, as described in Genesis 29. Two robed figures face one another at center, their hands joined in greeting, rendered in a simplified, folk-art inspired style. Below them, a flowering plant and two sheep are shown in the foreground, evoking the pastoral setting of the encounter. The design fills the inner field without additional inscriptions, allowing the figurative composition to serve as the sole decorative element. The reeded rim frames the scene cleanly, consistent with the coin's proof-quality finish. |

Part of Israel's long-running Biblical Art series, this miniature gold piece was issued by the Bank of Israel to commemorate the story of Jacob and Rachel from Genesis. The series, launched in the 1990s, used gold fractional formats uncommon in Israeli everyday coinage — these were collector issues from inception, never intended for circulation. Two die varieties exist under KM#405, distinguished by minor differences catalogued separately.
