Part of Israel's long-running natural reserves commemorative program, this issue highlights the coral reef ecosystem at the northern tip of the Red Sea — one of the world's northernmost coral reef systems and a site under sustained environmental pressure from decades of coastal development around Eilat. The Bank of Israel has used the 1 New Sheqel silver format consistently for single-year commemoratives since the 1990s, most seeing limited distribution through collector channels rather than any meaningful circulation.
