Obverse description A date palm tree with pendant fruit clusters occupies the central field, rendered in crisp relief characteristic of piedfort proof coinage. To the lower left of the palm, a small six-pointed Star of David (Magen David) appears in the field. The legend ISRAEL appears in Hebrew script (ישראל) along the lower left arc and in Arabic script (اسرائيل) along the upper left, flanking the central device. The overall design is adapted from the standard circulating 1 New Agora type of the Old Shekel series.
