Obverse description Square hammered flan bearing a three-line Arabic inscription in the field, reading 'Sultan / Murad Khan / ibn Ahmad Khan', affirming the sultan's name and patrilineal title. The legends are struck in relief against a flat, unadorned field typical of Ottoman provincial coinage of the early seventeenth century. The script is rendered in a cursive Maghrebi-influenced hand, with characters showing the characteristic bold strokes of Tunisian die-cutting. The edges of the flan are irregular, consistent with hand-cut square blanks. No border or decorative frame is present.
