Obverse description Cast bronze cash coin of the Joseon dynasty, featuring a central square perforation surrounded by a raised square rim. The four-character legend 常平通寶 (Sangpyeong Tongbo) is arranged in the traditional cruciform reading order around the central hole: 常 (Sang) at the top, 平 (Pyong) at the bottom, 通 (Tong) to the right, and 寶 (Bo) to the left, all rendered in regular-script Chinese characters in relief. The coin displays a broad, plain outer rim encircling a slightly recessed field, consistent with standard Joseon-period casting technique.
