Reverse description Round cast bronze coin with a central square hole. Two Chinese characters in regular script appear in the upper and right fields around the square perforation: 開 (top, denoting the Kaesong mint) and a series number character at the bottom (一, meaning 'one', indicating Series 1). A crescent or additional mint mark appears in the left field. The reverse field is otherwise plain, bounded by a simple raised rim, with the coin displaying characteristic cast surface texture and aged bronze patina.
