| Obverse description | Round bronze cash coin with a central square hole, struck in the traditional East Asian cast style. The obverse field bears four Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu) arranged in cruciform order around the central square perforation, reading 常平通寶 (Sangpyong Tongbo), the standard inscription of Joseon-era mun coinage. The characters are rendered in raised relief within a plain, unadorned field, with a raised inner rim surrounding the square hole and a rounded outer rim enclosing the design. |
