Obverse description Round cast brass coin with a central square perforation framed by a raised square border. The four-character legend 常平通寶 (Sangpyeong Tongbo) is disposed in cruciform arrangement around the central hole, with one character in each cardinal position, rendered in regular script (kaishu). The flat, unadorned field between the inner square rim and the outer raised rim is plain, consistent with standard Joseon cash coin typology.

Reverse description Reverse displays a central square perforation surrounded by a raised square inner rim. The mint identification character 訓 (Hun, denoting the Military Training Command) appears above the square hole, and the series numeral 五 (five) appears to the right, with the character 全 (jeon, meaning 'perfect' or a denomination marker) positioned below, all rendered in regular script within the plain field between the inner and outer rims.
