| Obverse description | Round cast brass coin with a central square perforation framed by a raised square border. The four-character legend 常平通寶 (Sangpyeong Tongbo) is disposed in cruciform arrangement around the central hole, with one character in each cardinal position, rendered in regular script (kaishu). The flat, unadorned field between the inner square rim and the outer raised rim is plain, consistent with standard Joseon cash coin typology. |
