Reverse description Reverse displaying two Chinese characters in regular script flanking the central square hole: 戶 (Ho, meaning Treasury Department) positioned to the upper left of the aperture, and 五 (O, meaning Five) to the upper right, with 列 (Yol, meaning Arranged/Series) positioned below, identifying this piece as Series 5 of the Hojo (Treasury Department) mint issue. The characters are cast in low relief against a flat field, with the same plain raised rim as the obverse. The surface shows heavy granular texture, dark iron-black patination, and traces of green cuprite, typical of long-circulated Joseon cast coinage.
