Reverse description Central square hole with mint and series marks arranged around it. The Treasury Department mint mark 戸 (Ho) appears at the top, identifying this issue as struck under the Hojo (Board of Revenue). A series numeral appears at the bottom — in this example 五 (5, the fifth series) — serving as a batch identifier to distinguish successive issues from the same mint. A small circular symbol appears to the left of the central hole, functioning as an additional control or workshop mark. All characters and symbols are rendered in regular script within a plain circular border.
