Obverse description Cast bronze cash coin with a central square hole surrounded by a raised square rim. The four-character legend 常平通寶 (Sangpyeong Tongbo) is disposed in cruciform arrangement around the central perforation in regular script (kaishu): 常 (Sang) above, 平 (Pyeong) below, 通 (Tong) to the right, and 寶 (Bo) to the left. A raised circular outer rim frames the field. The casting is typical of Joseon Dynasty monetary production, with characters rendered in bold relief against a flat field.
