Reverse description Plain reverse field with a central square perforation framed by a raised square rim, consistent with the standard bosen format. Above the square hole, the single Chinese character 川 (Kawa, meaning 'river') is cast in bold relief, identifying the coin as a product of the Onagi-gawa Mint. The remainder of the field is unadorned, with a raised outer rim encircling the coin. The crisp, well-defined casting of both the mint mark and the square rim reflects the superior quality expected of a mother coin used to produce working dies.
