Obverse description Round cast copper coin featuring a central square hole (nakama) surrounded by four raised Chinese characters arranged in cruciform reading order: 寛 (above), 通 (right), 寳 (left), and 永 (below), together forming the legend 寛永通寳 (Kan'ei Tsūhō, meaning 'Currency of Kan'ei'). The characters are rendered in bold, deeply cast relief within a raised inner square border. The broad flat rim is plain and unadorned, framing the design in the traditional East Asian cash coin format.

Reverse description Plain reverse field with a central square hole (nakama) surrounded by a raised inner square border and a broad, flat outer rim. Above the square hole, a single boldly cast Chinese character 十 (jū, meaning 'ten') is positioned in the upper field, serving as a mint or furnace mark identifying this piece as a bosen (mother coin) used in the production of circulation coinage. The remainder of the reverse field is devoid of further decoration.
