Additional information

Taimur Shah relocated the Afghan capital from Kandahar to Kabul in 1776, yet the Kandahar mint retained its political symbolism long after — issues bearing the Ahmadshahi-Qandahar designation continued to invoke the founding prestige of Ahmad Shah Durrani's original seat of power. Taimur was the second Durrani ruler, and his coinage reflects a reign spent suppressing internal revolts and fending off Sikh expansion in the Punjab rather than consolidating any monetary reform.

The twenty-year date range assigned to this type reflects the difficulty of attributing regnal year strikes precisely within Taimur's issues.
