Obverse description The obverse field is entirely occupied by a multi-line Nasta'liq Arabic-script legend arranged in three horizontal registers, separated by decorative ruled lines. The inscription names the Mughal emperor Shah Alam II, citing his regal titles and the Hijri regnal year. Decorative dot rosettes and pellet ornaments are scattered throughout the field as stylistic embellishments characteristic of late Mughal coinage. The rim is defined by a fine reeded border of closely spaced dentils. The overall calligraphic composition follows the standard Murshidabad mint style of the Bengal Presidency issues.
