Obverse description Central field bearing the royal Persian legend of the Mughal emperor Shah Alam II rendered in bold Naskh calligraphy, reading the imperial name and titles. The inscription is arranged across multiple horizontal registers separated by raised linear borders, with a decorative six-pointed star rosette ornament prominently placed within the central legend. A curved cartouche-style arc frames the upper portion of the field, and small lozenge-shaped and pellet ornamental devices are interspersed among the letters. The entire design is characteristic of late Mughal hammered coinage, with flowing script filling the planchet to the periphery.
