| Obverse description | The obverse is entirely occupied by a bold, calligraphic Arabic legend executed in the Nasta'liq style, arranged in two registers separated by a horizontal dividing line. The upper register carries the opening lines of the royal titulature, while the lower register continues with the full imperial style of Nader Shah. The inscription reads: 'Sultan of Sultans of the world, King of Kings, Nader Sahebgharan,' with the regnal year 1156 AH incorporated into the legend. The lettering is deeply struck in high relief, with elaborately curved strokes filling the flan, and the field is plain with a beaded border visible at the periphery. The overall composition reflects the characteristic Afsharid hammered gold coinage type in use at the Mashhad mint. |
