Additional information

Dungarpur was one of the smaller Rajput states in southern Rajasthan, and its gold mohur issues of the 1940s are among the final chapter of princely coinage in India — the Political Department in Delhi was actively discouraging new issues by this point, and instrument of accession would follow within four years. Lakshman Singh ruled Dungarpur from 1918 until merger with the Indian Union in 1948, making this a late-reign piece struck when the political ground was already shifting beneath the state's feet.

Feuchtwanger's reference number for this type is among the thinner-documented entries in that catalog.
