Jaipur's gold mohurs of this period were struck under a cession arrangement that bound the state to British paramountcy following the 1803 Treaty of Surji-Anjangaon and subsequent subsidiary alliance. The coin bears both the Mughal emperor's name and the local ruler's — Jai Singh III was a minor for much of this period, with the state managed under regency — a dual-authority formula that had long been a political courtesy to Delhi but carried increasingly hollow weight as Mughal power collapsed entirely by the 1830s.
KM#77 is associated with the Sawai Jaipur mint, which continued issuing in this joint-name convention well past any practical Mughal fiscal authority.
