Reverse description The reverse is inscribed entirely in Arabic Naskh script arranged in horizontal registers across the field, bearing the royal titulature of Emperor Akbar: 'Jalal al-Din Muhammad Akbar Badshah Ghazi.' The mint name 'Zarb Agra' (struck at Agra) is prominently placed in the lower register, with the regnal year expressed in the Hijri calendar appearing in the lowest line. The legends are deeply and boldly engraved in the hammered tradition, characteristic of Mughal imperial gold coinage of the mid-sixteenth century. The flan is slightly irregular in outline, consistent with hand-cut planchet preparation at the Agra mint.
