Obverse description Intricately interwoven Newari script legends fill the obverse field, arranged around a central swastika composed of squares — a sacred Hindu symbol rendered in geometric form with arms bent at right angles. The encircling legend reads Sri 3 Lokanath, Sri Sri Yoga Narendra Malla Deva, Samgitarnnava paraga, invoking the deity Lokanath and the regnal title and name of the issuing king. The design is characteristic of the complex, dense interlace style unique to Malla-period coinage of the Kathmandu Valley. This mohar was struck in Nepali Samvat 805, corresponding to AD 1685, during the reign of Yoga Narendra Malla (r. 1685–1705), King of Lalitpur (Patan).
