Obverse description Central square cartouche bearing the royal legend 'Shree Shree Shree Prithvi Veer Vikram Shah Dev' in Devanagari script, arranged in a cruciform yantra pattern with the Vikrama Samvat date 1803 inscribed in the lower segment. A small trident symbol appears at the center of the design within a circular medallion. The geometric layout is characteristic of traditional Nepalese coin design, with text divided into panels separated by linear borders. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded outer border.

Additional information

Prithvi Bir Bikram Shah was nine years old when he ascended the throne in 1881 following the death of Surendra Bir Bikram, making this among the earliest coinage issued under a child king whose reign would eventually run until 1911. Real authority during these first years rested with the Rana prime ministers, not the monarch — a political reality that the coinage itself quietly obscures.
