Merchant scrip issued by a bar — specifically, a drink token in paper form rather than the more common celluloid or aluminum formats used by Wisconsin taverns through much of the twentieth century. Cadott is a small mill town in Chippewa County, and tavern scrip of this kind typically circulated as change-equivalent or as a prepaid drink system, sidestepping the need for coin in high-volume bar transactions. The Crescent Tavern has not been documented in major scrip reference catalogs, making this a genuinely obscure local piece.
