| Obverse description | Central field occupied by a pointed heraldic shield bearing the quartered arms of Bavaria-Hainaut, with the Bavarian lozengy pattern and the Hainaut lion displayed in the respective quarters. The shield is set within a plain inner circle bordered by a beaded tressure. A Gothic circular legend in Latin runs between the beaded border and the irregular coin edge, interrupted by triple-dot punctuation marks. The overall style is characteristic of late medieval Flemish hammered billon coinage. |
