Reverse description A plain long cross divides the reverse field into four quarters, with a small imperial crown placed in the upper-left canton. The letters K, V, R, I appear distributed one per quarter, reading clockwise, forming the abbreviated Latin legend KVRI (Karolus, Utrechtensis Rex Imperator, or similar regnal abbreviation). A beaded inner circle frames the cross design, and the flan edge is irregular, characteristic of hammered billon coinage of the period.
