Reverse description Central square raised frame surrounds a circular central perforation, mirroring the obverse layout. Four Chinese characters are positioned at the cardinal points around the square: '香' (upper left) and '港' (lower left) forming 'Hong Kong', and '一' (upper right) and '文' (lower left) forming 'One Mil'. The legends are rendered in bold, well-cut Chinese script typical of mid-Victorian colonial coinage. The coin's border is formed by a continuous ring of fine beading.
