Obverse description Central circular hole surrounded by a raised square frame set within the coin's field. A royal crown surmounts the square frame at the top. The legend HONG-KONG arcs around the upper periphery, flanked by a milled border, while the date appears to the left and right of the square frame at mid-field. The denomination ONE MIL and the royal cypher VR (Victoria Regina) arc around the lower periphery, completing the circumferential legend.

Reverse description Central circular hole enclosed within a raised square frame, mirroring the obverse layout. Four large Chinese characters are disposed in the four quadrants of the field surrounding the square frame, reading clockwise from the top: 香 (Hong), 一 (One), 港 (Kong), 文 (Mil/Cash), translating collectively as Hong Kong One Mil. The coin's edge is defined by a continuous milled border.
