Additional information

The Kingdom of Sedang was a short-lived French adventurer state carved out of the Central Highlands of Vietnam in 1888 by Marie-Charles David de Mayrena, a con man and self-styled monarch who convinced local Bahnar tribespeople to accept his sovereignty before European powers refused to recognize his claim. He died in 1890 under disputed circumstances in Malaya, ending the experiment entirely. This 2021 issue is a private fantasy piece — Sedang issued no actual coinage during its existence.
