| Obverse description | Central field occupied by a stylised interlaced foliate ornament composed of four symmetrically arranged looping stems, evoking a decorative knot or quatrefoil motif, rendered in low relief. The circular legend SUOMEN TASAVALTA (Republic of Finland) runs along the upper periphery, separated from the date by two raised pellet stops. The date appears at the bottom of the field, flanked by a pellet on each side. The design is austere and modernist in character, consistent with post-war Finnish applied art. |

| Reverse description | The large numeral 1 occupies the centre of the field, flanked on either side by stylised representations of rearing lions holding swords, derived from the Finnish coat of arms. The denomination legend MARKKA curves along the lower periphery in bold raised Latin lettering. The overall composition is stark and functionalist, with the heraldic supporters framing the denomination in a balanced, symmetrical arrangement. |
